Anthony Douglas Hink, P. Eng.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden and unexpected passing of Anthony Douglas Hink, of Oakville, ON, on Thursday February 11, 2021.
Pre-deceased by his parents Anthony Hink and Gladys Hink (Foster). He is survived by his wife Beverley Douglas, daughter Alexa Hink, sister Linda Hink (Stephen Ami), brother Daniel Hink (Rebecca Dixon), many nieces, nephews and cousins, including Grant and Heather Hink to whom he was especially close.
Growing up in Dorval, QC, Doug graduated from McGill in 1972 with a BSc in Chemical Engineering. He then joined Atomic Energy of Canada (AECL) where he successfully held many senior positions in engineering and project management, including Assistant to the President and later being assigned to Washington DC as President of AECL Technologies. He moved on to assuming many other executive positions including VP of Strategic Development. Doug later joined SNC as the VP of Business Development, and started his own consulting firm in 2003, in nuclear services.
He was a loving and caring husband and father, who relished the achievements of his wife and daughter, who followed in his footsteps to become an engineer. He had a keen zest for life and enjoyed sharing all that the world had to offer with his loved ones. Doug shared a passion for the great outdoors golfing, camping, hiking and birding with Beverley.
Doug was well-read with a profound interest in world history and politics; he will be missed by all for his insightful input and intellectual engagements. Big hearted, he had a special talent to get along with everyone that he met. Doug was very active in his community through PROBUS, and his beloved McGill network.
He was so proud of all of his friends and their many accomplishments. Doug had great pride in his career and the people he got to know along the way.
We have lost a husband, a father, a brother, an uncle, a friend, an accomplished engineer, a leader, and a very good man far too early. It has left a huge hole in our hearts and our family.
