Annie Mae Macintosh MacKinnon 2021

Annie Mae MacKinnon
Sydney Mines
It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt, Annie Mae MacKinnon, age 103, who passed away on Saturday, March 13, 2021, at the MacGillivray Guest Home, 2nd Floor, CND Unit, Sydney, with her loving daughter Shirley at her side.
Born in Florence on May 25, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (MacPherson) MacIntosh. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Annie Mae was an active member of Holy Family Parish, Sydney Mines. She spent a number of years as Sacristan there. She was a long-standing member of the C.W.L. she loved to bake and cook (no one left her place hungry), and play cards, but her greatest joy in life was with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter Shirley, Bowmanville, ON, granddaughter Joanne (Kevin Hayes), Whitby, ON, her grandsons John (Sheri), Whitby, ON, Alexander, Kitchener, ON, Charles (Cassandra), Calgary, AB, and Aaron (Krista), Fort Saskatchewan, AB. She is also survived by seven great-grandchildren; Brandon, Connor, Haley, Lindsey, Tristan, Madden and Mairead; her daughter-in-law Elva, and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Lori MacIntosh (Lisa), Vancouver, BC.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Joseph (Joe the Duke) (1986), son Joseph (2002), daughter Sister Lorraine, CND (2009), and by her seven brothers; John, James, Lauchie, Allan, Hughie, William and Rod.
At this time, we would like to thank the nurses and staff of the 2nd Floor CND Unit, MacGillivray Guest Home for the love, care, and compassion shown to her in the three years she was a guest there. You treated her like you would your own mother, and we can’t thank you enough.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. Due to Covid-19 travel restrictions, a Mass of Christian Burial will take place at a later date. If desired, donations in her memory may be made to Holy Family Parish, Sydney Mines, or to the MacGillivray Guest Home. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
