Obituary of Ann Groetelaars-Loeffen
Groetelaars – Loeffen (nee Van der Heijden), Ann (Johanna)
Passed away Peacefully on February 22 2021 surrounded by her family in her 93rd year. Predeceased by her first husband Leo Groetelaars of 24 years with whom she had 6 children and her 2nd husband Martin Loeffen of 31 years. Dear mother to Connie, Jane (Mike) Gillap, Moira Moody, Leon (Sigrid), John (Pauline) and David (Tammy) and stepchildren, Nori Barrick, John (Rita), Margaret Piscioneri, Nick (Debbie), Rita, Bert, Joanne (Al) Barrick, Harry (Bette) and Nellie (Marc) Lundy. Loving Oma of Alexis (Matt), Brendan (Ashley), Justin (Sarah), Ryan (Jenn), Jennifer (Anthony), Kimberly (Paola), Leo ((Liz), Amy, Trevor (Tori), Jesse, Olivia, Matthew, Ellie, Sara, Kaitlyn and Kyle and several step Grandchildren. She was Super Oma to several great grandchildren.
Ann was born in Holland in 1928 and immigrated to Canada in 1956, settling in Port Colborne where she lived for the remainder of her life.
You may know her from her many volunteer activities, several years involved in the Girl Guide organization, Northland Pointe Auxiliary for 35 years, Meals on Wheels for 40 years, Heart and Stroke and Arthritis canvasser for over 30 years. She also volunteered as a Cub Scout leader in Holland for 9 years before moving to Canada.
She was an active member of the St Therese CWL for over 50 years, Port Colborne Bocce Club and the Friends over 55 Club.
She enjoyed many activities, Aqua fit, biking, line dancing and especially walking, all the way up to her final days.
She will be dearly missed especially on our Sunday get-togethers
Arrangements entrusted to the ARMSTRONG FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 179 Clarence Street, Port Colborne. Due to COVID restrictions, there will be a private family Funeral Service in the Armstrong Chapel and interment will follow at Mt. St. Joseph Cemetery. To view the service a link will be made available on Friday February 26, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. Please go to YouTube and type into the search bar – Armstrong Funeral Home & Chapel Port Colborne Ann Groetelaars-Loeffen Funeral Service – where you will be able to view the service.
