Obituary of Anne Arthur
Passed away with her family around her on Monday, November 8, 2021. Anne Arthur (née Van Es) of Peterborough was in her 68th year. Anne, a career educator, completed her PhD in Education (2011) in addition to Masters’ degrees in English Literature, Creative Writing and Education. Recently, she was nearing completion of a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology. Devoted as she was to the pursuit of education, her eleven grandchildren were her true passion in life. She involved herself deeply with each of them. Anne will be unendingly loved by her husband, Laverne Arthur of 47 years and her children, Dr. Rebecca Arthur (Paul Guy), Wesley Arthur (Emily Finnigan), Matthew Arthur (Amber Ballard), Emily Arthur, and Dr. Zachary Arthur (Cassy Appelt). Beloved Om of Graham, Anna, George, Madeleine, Elliott, Vivienne, Cecelia, Eleanor, Claire, Atli, and Olive. Anne is one of ten children and will be remembered by her eight surviving siblings. A commemoration of Anne’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Hospice Peterborough would be greatly appreciated by the family.

  1. Our families have been so intertwined in years past that Anne’s death feels like we have lost a member of our family. We know, too well, what it is to grieve someone that was so loved and our hearts break for what you are going through. Laverne, Rebecca, Wesley, Emily, Matthew and Zach: we are so sorry for your loss and how deeply you will all miss your beloved wife and mother. Love, Dale and Janet
