It is with heavy hearts the family of Anne-Marie Wilkes, beloved wife of 50 years to the late Artie Wilkes, announces her peaceful passing on January 13, 2021, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones. Born in Saint John on August 24, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Armand J. and Eva Sophie (Powers) Cyr.
Anne-Marie worked as a Lab Technician for many years at the old General Hospital and Centracare, then went on to work a few years with Statistics Canada. During her spare time, Anne-Marie, would knit, work with plastic canvas, make various jams, jellies and pickles and enjoyed stamp collecting. Anne Marie was a long time member of the CWL and loved to sing in her church choir. Most of all, Anne-Marie loved spending time with the love of her life and soulmate Artie. Anne-Marie and Artie travelled to many different places discovering lighthouses and taking in the scenery. Anne-Marie loved her family and friends and gave so much of herself to others. She will be missed by all who knew her.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the oncology department of the Saint John Regional Hospital, Dr. Burnell, and the staff of 5CS for their caring and compassion. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
