Anne J Cheslock Nee Meyer

Anne J Cheslock Nee Meyer May 17 1927 – June 7 2021

Our dear mother Anne J. Cheslock went to her heavenly home to be with her Lord and saviour Jesus Christ on June 7, 2021 in her 95th year, surrounded by her loving family.
Mom was predeceased by her cherished husband of 70 years, Harold E. Cheslock in 2018 and her grandson Samuel at birth, her two brothers Chapman and Albert Meyer and her sister Alice Boa. She is survived by her children Beverley Anne (Senos), Brian (Marilyn), Murray (Carol) and Richard (Stacey), her 9 grandchildren: Kimberley Anne (Heuff), Christopher (Buckland), Benjamin, Jonathan, Cindy (Lottes), Heather (Oattes), Matthew, Katrina and Elliot, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren, her sisters Tena Dent, Mabel Boa and Edith Kenney.
Mom was born and raised on a farm in Rivington, Quebec. She became a teacher and her first job was in Poltimore, QC where she met Dad and on June 26, 1948 they were married in Rivington, QC. Mom’s teaching career ended in 1950 after she became a mother but she remained for everyone, always the teacher.
Mom had a great love for life and was a devout Christian. Her family was her utmost love, followed by her many friends both old and new. Next would be her prized Simmental cattle that she devoted years to raising. She loved each one and knew all their names. She would spend countless hours tending them, halter breaking and scratching bellies. She was a well respected member of the Ottawa Valley Simmental
Assoc., the Ontario Simmental Assoc. and the Canadian Simmintal Assoc. With her prized cattle she won numerous awards including the Royal Winter Fair. Sadly, mobility issues forced her to sell her cows only 4 years ago.
Mom had a gentle and caring heart and a determination beyond belief. She had been plagued by arthritis for the past 20 years resulting in mobility and severe pain issues forcing her to use a walker for each and every step she took, yet she remained steadfast in her decision to never go into a nursing home. For 50 years she and Dad lived in Metcalfe, ON on their little piece of paradise where along with her cattle she managed their construction company. A woman of many talents!
Mom’s door was always open where she greeted everyone with a smile, a cup of tea, homemade cookies or better yet, a meal. No one ever left feeling unwelcome or very special to Mom. She was kind, generous and loving to all.
In recent years her little great grandchildren brought her much joy. Mom’s candy jar always held special treats for each one of them and they were always excited to see what she had.
Mom’s garden became her main focus in the past few years. Planting seeds indoors early in spring and watching how they grew and became strong bearing fruit. She was at awe with all of God’s creation. Teaching her family constantly and sharing her harvest with all.
Mom will be deeply missed by all of her family and by all those whose lives she lovingly had touched.
Many thanks to the doctors and staff at the Ottawa General Hospital for their tender care in these final days, to Elizabeth Care and to all those tending her daily needs enabling her to remain in her home as she was determined to do. Extra special thanks to all her family members who so very lovingly tended to all her daily wants and needs. God bless you all.
The family is planning a memorial service at a later “Covid Friendly” date. Mom has specifically requested “No Tears” as she had a wonderful life. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the charity of your choice.
