MATRESKY: Anne Catherine, 96, of Tavistock passed away peacefully in Stratford General Hospital on Friday, April 2, 2021.
She was born in Romania on September 30, 1924 a daughter of the late Michael & Katherine (Keane) Paul.
She married Edward Philip Matresky at Kitchener on May 7, 1949. He predeceased her on November 11, 2003. Anne & Ed moved to Tavistock in 1970 and together they owned and operated Matresky Orchard for over thirty years. Anne was a longtime member of the Tavistock Women’s Institute.
Anne is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Deb Matresky, Paul and Kim Matresky, all of Tavistock; four grandchildren, Amy (Wayne) Armstrong, Meaghan (Peter) McCarten, Kathleen (Zach) Lindner and Michael Matresky; five great grandchildren, Cullen, Presley, Corey, Duncan and Clarke.
She was predeceased by her mother, Katherine Schoeck (1985); her step-father, Stephan Schoeck (1989); her brother-in-law, Harold Matresky (2007); her sister-in-law, Shirley Matresky (1987).
A family visitation and celebration of Anne’s life was held in the Francis Funeral Home, 77 Woodstock Street North, Tavistock on Monday, April 5, 2021. Interment will be in Avondale Cemetery Stratford.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to “TAP” (Tavistock Assistance Program) or Tavistock Fire Fighters would be appreciated and may be made through the Francis Funeral Home by calling 519-655-2431.
