Anita Wilhelm Wawrina Sunday January 3rd 2021

Wilhelm, Anita
Anita Wilhelm (nee Wawrina) passed away peacefully at the age of 96 at the West End Ottawa Extendicare Medex. She is survived by her three children: Ralph (Sigrid), Diana and Richard (Debbie), four grandchildren: Jennifer, Markus, Nicholas and Andrew, three great grandchildren: Savannah, Sierra, Serena and two brothers Edmund Wawrina and Hans Wawrina (Waltraud).
Anita was born in Heidelberg, Germany in 1924 and after getting married, immigrated to Canada, landing in St. John, New Brunswick on her birthday in 1951, with her husband and first born son. After living through the horrors of World War 2 they were grateful to settle into a quiet life in Montreal, where she had two more children. The family moved to Ottawa in 1962 where Wolf-Lothar served Canada with the Department of Industry.
Anita was a full time mother until the premature death of her husband in 1966, after which she sought employment outside the home doing various jobs, until she found an opportunity to pursue her true passion, teaching yoga. She returned to her vegetarian convictions and devoted herself to a healthy lifestyle; sharing what she learned to others. She eventually retired to a quiet rural life in Eganville until her health began its decline; then spent the last few years of her life in the Extendicare until she was finally claimed by Alzheimers on January 3, 2021.
The family thanks Extendicare Medex for the kind, caring and professional help she received at their nursing home, especially during the recent pandemic.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Anita Wilhelm Wawrina Sunday January 3rd 2021..
