On Saturday, September 25, 2021 Mrs. Anita Joy Young passed away at the age of 90.
Anita is the daughter of Mr. Cyril B. Kenway and Mrs. Anita E. Kenway. She leaves her husband Chester, daughter Nancy (Guy), grandchildren Danielle, Michael, Kristin, Katie, Jessica and great granddaughter Vienna. She was predeceased by her son, Denny, and grandson, Scott.
Anita enjoyed the many clubs and organizations she belonged to and the development of friendships along the way. She was a bridge player, acrylic and watercolour painter, a creative scrap booking enthusiast, sewer, Royal Dalton figurine collector, French provincial furniture lover, the creator of numerous needlepoint and petit point pictures and world traveler.
Mom began working at the age of 16 at the Edmonton Journal where she met Chester. After graduating from high school, she proceeded to the U of A and earned degrees in nursing and public health. Anita was very proud of her accomplishments during her career.
As per mom’s wishes, no service will take place.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Alberta or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Many thanks to Dr. Fields and the second and third floor staff of Good Samaritan Southgate for the care of mom these past years.
