Angela Frances Millard (nee Foot) was born at Toronto East General Hospital on New Years day 1948 and lived the first 20 years of her life within a few kilometers of the hospital in East York. Her parents, Fred and Mary Foot bought a home on Northbrook Road, one block East of Greenwood Avenue, just South of O’Conner Drive, when Angie was a small child, and from there she was able to walk to school. First to McGregor Public School and then to East York Collegiate where she graduated in 1966 and enrolled at the University of Toronto in a 4 year Honours degree program in Physical and Health Education.
Growing up as a child, Angie had no idea how famous her father Fred Foot would become in the Track and Field world. Angie would love to hang around the East York track club after school with her Dad as he trained his athletes, some who later became world class Olympic athletes, like Bruce Kidd and Bill Crothers to mention only two of them. It should be obvious now to the reader why Angie’s chosen Career was to be a Phys Ed teacher. More details will be outlined in Angie’s Eulogy at her Celebration of Life Service at Chapel Ridge Funeral home.
Angela was diagnosed with mild Alzheimer’s cognitive impairment in 2012 and thus began a steady decline in her mental health and abilities to function normally until finally being admitted to Bethany Lodge special care facilities in late Summer 2019.
Angela, since a very young child, has trusted in her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, and never left anyone in doubt as to her steadfast devotion to her faith, sharing often with whoever she met the GOOD NEWS of the difference a Personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ can make, in every aspect of one’s life.
Angela went peacefully into the Lord’s Presence at 5:15 PM Thursday October 28th
with her husband Jim and daughter Sarah at her side. Her son Jonathan who lives in Lagos Nigeria West Africa has been in close touch with his mom through the marvels of modern technology, over the last 8 weeks or so, since he was able to spend a week with her at her bedside in August and say his farewell.
Angie is also survived by other loving family members in Canada and the USA,
although pre-deceased by her parents Fred and Mary Foot and her only sibling,
Debbie Croswell, who are now all enjoying fellowship again on the streets of gold.
She is survived by her loving nephews, Kevin McGuffin (Martina and Great nephews Ryan and Justin) and Matthew McGuffin (Hillary) and Great Niece and Nephews, Brooklyn, Matt and Jack) and her sister Debbie (Derrick and stepdaughters Sarah and Jenny Croswell.
Also survived by her Brother-in-law Bill Millard (Audrey and nieces and nephew Grace, Elleanor, and Kenneth)
and Sister-in-laws Ruth Ann Roossinck (and niece and nephew Sharon and Danny)
and Jean Nash (Charlie).
Celebration of Life for Angie being held on Monday, November 01 at the Chapel Ridge Funeral Home, 8911 Woodbine Avenue, Markham ON, with VISITATION from 10AM until NOON, (refreshments provided) and service NOON to 1PM, to be immediately followed by interment at the Hillcrest Cemetery in Vaughan.
