CARTER, Andrea Marion (nee Cornwallis-Bate) Passed away peacefully with family at her side on Wednesday, May 5. Andrea was born January 29, 1949, in Penticton and had resided in Kelowna since 1969. Andrea is survived by her loving husband Barry of 49 years, son Westley (Hazel), daughter Leigh-Ann (Stuart) Yanow and son Andrew (Kate), grandchildren Simon, Chloe and Oliver Yanow, Elliot, Allyson, and Mason. She is also survived by her siblings William, Rodney, Barbara, Patricia, Jillian, Norman, and Geoffrey and her numerous nieces and nephews who she always enjoyed over the years. Andrea was predeceased by her father Alleyne (1952) and mother Iris (1996).
Over the years, Andrea always enjoyed a new challenge including practical nursing in long-term care, cabinet making, fitness instructor, and floral design. Her dedication to volunteering to our community was endless including the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Interior Health New Mother Clinic. Her passion for gardening was endless as was her enjoyment for the natural beauty of the Okanagan Valley. She always loved being outdoors including camping, hiking, and making connections to the history of the area.
Andrea was very proud of her children and grandchildren and everything they accomplished. She always made time to give them the opportunity to enjoy their passions. Her grandchildren will always remember all the cookie-making and storybook reading that they loved so much.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Hawthorn Park Orchard Manor for the exceptional care they provided to Andrea and the support they gave the family during her stay with them.
There will be no formal service at her request.
