Amber’s Obituary
PENNEY, Amber Doris – of Upper Clyde Road, Shelburne County NS, formerly of Clark’s Harbour, passed away suddenly at home on August 15, 2021. Born in Shelburne, Amber was the oldest daughter of the late Layton Nickerson and the late Dorothy (Ross) Nickerson; she was also a daughter-in-law of the late Milton Penney and Margaret (Atwood) Penney. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Clayton Penney and her only son, Stacey Penney. Amber was married to Clayton for 37 years and they were so much in love that they renewed their wedding vows on their 25th anniversary. She was also a loving mother and grandmother and had many friends. In the early years of their marriage she was a wife of a lighthouse keeper on Seal Island, where she homeschooled the children. They then moved back to Clark’s Harbour where she worked at Clearwater in the office and then at Sobeys until she retired. She and Clayton built a new home in Upper Clyde where they resided for many years. Amber had a talent and love for making crafts of all kinds and her family and friends got to enjoy her creations every Christmas. She enjoyed volunteering for the Lionettes and was a long time member. She volunteered her time to the SCATVA and was a treasurer for the club. The family would like to thank the club members for going over and above to insure that Amber had a great experience and was well taken care of on their trips. She is survived by her only daughter, Marina and son-in-law, Joey Williams of Port Clyde; grandson, Dylan; granddaughters, Kaydence, Port Clyde, and Margaret (Maggie) Penney of Clark’s Harbour; brothers, Rodney (Debbie) Nickerson, Thomas (Debbie) Nickerson, Clyde River; sisters, Lynn Nickerson, Port Clyde and Tanya Smith (Lloyd), Newellton; and many nieces and nephews.
