Obituary of Alyre Joseph Malley
Malley, Alyre Joseph –
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Alyre J. Malley announces his peaceful passing, which occurred on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at his residence surrounded by those he loved. Born in Saint John on January 27, 1943, he was a son of the late Arthur and Catherine (Basque) Malley.
Alyre was the kind of man who enjoyed life’s simple pleasures, especially spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren brought him great joy. He was an avid card player for over 30 years, and until recently he “let Bertha win” every evening. He also loved to play darts, marbles and board games like pichenotte. Even when he wasn’t feeling his best, he never complained.
Alyre will be missed by his beloved wife Bertha of 52 years; his children Claude Malley (Linda) and Denise Stewart (Brad); a granddaughter Christy Stewart; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents, Alyre was predeceased by a granddaughter Jessica Stewart in 2013 who was his heart and soul; and two brothers Weldon and James.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Brenan’s Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John, NB (634-7424). In keeping with Alyre’s wishes, a private graveside service will take place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery at a later date. For those who wish, remembrances may be made to Make-A-Wish Canada or the MS Society. Online condolences can be placed at www.BrenansFH.com
