It is with the heaviest of hearts that I share the news of the sudden passing of Allan from non-Covid causes on September 9/21. He was in his 71 st year. Allan was my beloved husband (Brenda-nee Rowley) for 44 years. Our son Angus and his wife Kate Kelly and our daughter Whitney and her husband Stephen Harrison, will miss him terribly, as will his 4 beloved grandchildren – Lachlan and Evander McQuarrie and Cameron and Eleanor Harrison. He was the eldest of five siblings – Sharon (Mace – predeceased), Hugh, Ben and Karen (Whitford). Also predeceased by his parents Mansell and Muriel (nee Sayers) McQuarrie. He grew up on his family farm in the tiny hamlet of Shrigley, Ontario. Allan attended public school in a 1 room /8 grade school a few feet from his front door. He hated school but found his feet in high school with the practical learning of subjects such as electrical systems and mechanics. He went on to graduate from Ryerson with an electronic technology degree. He worked for many years at Johnson Controls and then completed his career with more than 20 years at IBM. He could fix and problem solve his way through anything. He was often asked for help by others and was always happy to lend a hand. He was passionate about photography, and was always snapping photos of family and friends, and looking for opportunities to practice his technique and skills at local events. He was known for his quirky sense of humour and strong work ethic. He was a kind and patient husband and father. As per his wishes, there will be no funeral, visitation, or celebration of life. Arrangements through Marshall Funeral Home in Richmond Hill. Should you wish, donations to Autism Ontario, the Kidney Foundation or any charity of your choice in honor of Allan would be welcome. Our lives have been richer for knowing him, and we will remember, miss, and love him forever. Donations and online condolences maybe left for the family at www.marshallfuneralhome.com.
