Allan “Al William Merritt 2021

Allan “Al” William Merritt, long time resident of Calgary, Alberta passed away suddenly on Monday, February 15, 2021 at the age of 55 years. Allan leaves behind his loving wife Annette of 33 years of marriage, his three daughters; Shantel (Darren), Madora and Alicia (Colin). His grandchildren Tanner, Shanelle, Knox, Catelynn, Jayden and Kole. His mother Jeannie and Mother in-law Evelyn.
Allan was born in High River in 1965 and grew up on the west end of Calgary. He started his devoted family in 1985. Al spent well over 35 years in the oil industry, starting off as a Red seal heavy duty mechanic, working himself into the mentoring/management aspects of his long successful career. He will be remembered dearly by his second family for leaving a impressive amount of fond memories his signature and very creative sense of humour.
Allan’s pride and joy was his family. He loved having everyone around, whether it was camping out in wilderness with a fire and telling stories or enjoying the simplicity of life with his wife and animals. Allan wouldn’t be found around any of his grandkids without a smile or to lend a helping hand, teaching the girls and grandkids his knowledge so they could live on in his legacy. Allan was predeceased by his father William (Bill) Merritt.
Al will be greatly missed by his extended family, friends and colleagues.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date this year.

  1. Al and I were not the best of friends, but we had a lot in common. Are work and are families! We worked at Sefel and Enertec Geophysical! Al was always very good at what he was doing, and lots of respect and good friends in the seismic industry!
