Alison MacDonald 19592021

Alison MacDonald
1959-2021
It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful
passing of Alison Dorothy MacDonald of Oxford, on Monday July 19, 2021
in the North Cumberland Memorial Hospital. Born in New Glasgow on June
16, 1959, she was a daughter of Calvin and Jeannine (Holloway)
MacDonald of Trenton.
Alison is survived by sister, Carolyn Francis (Stephen
Deveau), Mount Uniacke; brother, Keith MacDonald (Mary Fennell), New
Glasgow; step-sister, Judy (Robert) Lockett,
Bridgetown; brother-in-law, Clifford Cox, Hamilton ON; and
many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents; she was predeceased by
her step-father, Glenn Wagner, sister, Maureen Cox, and step-sister,
Elaine Wagner.
Alison spent her formative years in Trenton. She lived in
Halifax for some time, working as a personal care worker. In the early
2000’s, she moved to Alberta to live with her sister Maureen
and her family, and made many friends there. Later, she would move
back to Nova Scotia, and lived in Oxford until her move recently to
palliative care. As her health was failing, Carolyn, her oldest
sister, was a great help making sure that she got everything she
needed to be comfortable.
Alison had a kind heart. She worked in the health care field,
primarily with elderly patients, and took pride in her work and in her
treatment of patients. She was a great lover of animals, especially
her cats. She had a wicked sense of humour and was down to earth,
always ready for a chat, a smoke, and a coffee. She also had an
interest in the paranormal, often speaking about her sixth sense, or
offering spiritual advice to anyone feeling down or
doubtful.
We would like to acknowledge and express our appreciation for
the wonderful care provided to Alison by Dr. Ron Rondeau of Oxford,
the staff at North Cumberland Memorial Hospital in Pugwash, and the
VON. Special thanks are extended to her palliative care social worker
Brenna Koneczny for her wonderful support.
Arrangements are under the direction of R.H. Porter Funeral
Home, New Glasgow. The remains have been cremated and a graveside
service will be held at a later date. Donations may be made to the
North Cumberland Community Health Foundation, VON or charity of
choice.

Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Alison MacDonald 19592021..
