Alice’s Obituary
PETERSON, Alice Mildred, 85, of Jordan Ferry, passed away peacefully on November 24, 2021, at Roseway Manor.
Born in Kouchibouquac, NB, she was a daughter of the late Simon Firth Carter and Edith Merrill Carter (Randall).
She had a colourful career which started as a CNA in Kentville before she relocated to Shelburne to work at Roseway Hospital, followed by a stint as a public health nurse. She left nursing and pursued many other interests before returning to nursing as a night nurse at Roseway Manor. She was a homesteader with a great love for animals and gardening. She was strong willed and strong in her convictions and faith. Alice loved to tell a story and was quite the jokester.
She is survived by her daughter Trudy and son Floyd (Wanda); grandchildren Natasha, Katie, Simone and Nicole; and great-grandchildren Oliver and Remi; brothers, Charlie, Edward, Winston; sisters Edna Flanagan, Marie Colpitts and Noreen Gardiner, and many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Floris Jean, brother, Kenneth and sisters Barbara Tweedie and Marion Smith. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Shelburne. There will be no visitation by request and a private graveside ceremony will be held later. Donations in her memory can be made to the Roseway Manor Fund. Condolences may be left for the family at www.huskilson.net
The family would like to acknowledge with grateful thanks the dedicated nursing staff at Roseway Manor who took care of our mother during her stay there and in particular Corbin, Cynthia, Jenny and Wendy, who were by her side during her final days.
