Alice May Blundun (Richardson)
August 19, 2023 – August 27, 2021
On August 27, 2021 May Blundun passed away at the Kimberley Special Care Home a week
after celebrating her 98th birthday.
May was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan to Alice and William Richardson one of 9 children.
May was predeceased by her parents and her siblings.
May grew up in Saskatoon later spending time with her oldest brother Chandis in Winnipeg-
explaining why she became a devoted fan of the Blue Bombers. She moved to Calgary where
she worked for Cominco and met many life long friends. This is where she met Herbert (Curly)
Blundun whom she married in 1961. May and Curly moved to Kimberley a few years later.
Curly passed away in 1983 but May carried on in Kimberley working on the ski hill and
providing child care for a number of great families. May spent over 50 years in Kimberley and
made many friends through her work relationships and membership in the The Royal Canadian
Legion and the Order of the Royal Purple.
May will be missed by her niece and nephews and their families.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at the Kimberley Special Care
Home and Dr Du Preez and the staff at the Kimberley Medical Clinic. May always enjoyed
visiting with her many friends and during the most recent years she relied on them for
companionship and comfort. The family would like to thank all of those who knew May and did
visit with her during her many, many years in Kimberley.
In accordance with her wishes there will be no service and in lieu of flowers May asked for a
donation to be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Poppy Fund.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Alice Mae Blunden Richardson August 19 1923
