Alice Florence Kostenuk
Alice Kostenuk (nee Shamley) of Edmonton passed away on October 28, 2021 at the age of 101 years.
Alice is survived by her two daughters, Sylvia Kostenuk of Edmonton and Betty Kostenuk of Edmonton; her two sons, Bill (Rochelle) Kostenuk of Carstairs and Terry Kostenuk of Medicine Hat; five grandchildren, Matthew Kostenuk of Edmonton, Melissa Peckham of Edmonton, Karen (Lyall) Bjerrisgaard of Calgary, Amy (Gabriel) Finn of Calgary, and Daniel Kostenuk of Red Deer; eight great grandchildren, Tyler, Ashley, Cailey, Naomi, Leah, Emma, Jacob, and Amirah.
Alice was predeceased by her husband, Bill in 2010; her parents, Peter and Lena Shamley; her sisters, Helen and Amelia, and her three brothers, Nick, Joe, and Sam.
Alice was one of the last of a rare breed, that of a stay-at-home housewife. She was an avid bowler and a weekly bingo player even in her final year playing in the Eaux Claires Extendicare Nursing Home. She was a gentlewoman and a great lady.
Prayers will be held on Tuesday, November 02, 2021 at 8 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 – 111 Avenue, Edmonton, AB.
Per Alberta’s Restriction Exemption Program, please be prepared to provide proof of Vaccinations (along with valid ID for those 18 and over), or proof of a negative rapid COVID test taken within 72 hours of entry, or an original medical exemption letter.
Divine Liturgy to be held Wednesday, November 03, 2021 at 10 a.m. at St. Basil’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 7007 – 109 Street, Basilian Fathers officiating with interment at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation.
