Alexander Joseph Doka 1940 2021

Obituary of Alexander Joseph Doka
It is always difficult saying goodbye to someone we love and cherish. With family by his side, Alex Doka, aged 81, of Regina, SK, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 18, 2021, at the Regina General Hospital, following a stroke a few days before. He is now at peace with his Lord and Saviour.
Alex was born to Julia and Joe Doka, one of three children. He married Ruth Caswell September 1, 1962, and together they raised four boys.
Alex and Ruth made Kipling their first home where his first job was working in the print shop of the Kipling Citizen. Alex’s passion for mechanics led him to a job with Bersh Motors and then with Case Equipment first in Windthorst then in Regina with a total of 34 years as a road mechanic. There was never a vehicle that Alex did not offer to fix nor couldn’t fix. He has always been involved in their Church where he took on the duties of electrician, handyman, usher, deacon and bus driver.
Following retirement, he was always the extra hand needed during Ruth’s remaining years of childcare! Papa Alex will be remembered for his quiet and caring nature to all those that came to their home for childcare. Alex was the quiet cheerleader next to Ruth at sports and activities no matter the game played and no matter the child, grandchild or great grandchild, including being season ticket holders for the Regina Pats and Saskatchewan Roughriders for a number of years.
Alex leaves to mourn his passing his wife Ruth; children Jeff (Sheila) of Onoway, AB; Rodney (Lisa) of Three Hills, AB; Corey (Angela) of Regina, SK; Mike (Andrea) of Regina, SK; and, Shannon (Brett) of Regina; nine grandchildren Nathan (Tracy), Randall (Seaver), Britni (JC), Reese, Gavyn, Riley, Avery, Ashlyn, Arron; and five great-grandchildren Taylor, Brooklyn, Ryker, Tenley and Huxton. He is also survived by his sister Malvin Knudsen of Regina, SK; and brother Larry (Annabelle) Doka of Kipling, SK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended relatives and friends.
Alex was predeceased by his mother Julia in 2016 and father, Joe in 2002; brother-in-laws Joe Peto, Ray Knudsen and Darle Caswell; nephew David Peto; mother-in-law Alma Caswell; and, Father in law Delbert Caswell.
The family wishes to thank everyone for the outpouring of love, support, and condolences.
A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 22, 2021 in Westhill Park Baptist Church, 8103 Sherwood Drive, Regina, SK. Indoor masking policy will apply. Lunch will be held following the service. Proof of vaccination and government-issued photo identification is required for all attendees of the reception. The service will be available to view live online at westhillchurch.ca/watch. A private family interment will be held in Spring of 2022.
Friends that so desire, donations in memory of Alex may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan or to Westhill Park Baptist Church.
Family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the doctors and nurses of MICU at the Regina General Hospital for the care and attention that Alex received in the short time he was there.
