Albert Nelson Friday August 13th 2021

Albert Oliver Nelson was 98 years young. He passed away quietly and peacefully on August 13, 2021 at Grace Hospital. Albert was the fifth child of Larsine (1894-1976) and John Nelson (1890-1978). Albert was born to them September 4th, 1922 at their farm northwest of Inwood.
Albert married Annie Ruth Roberts on September 22, 1951 and they enjoyed 67 years together in their home in St James. During these years they spent many hours in the car driving across the country visiting friends and family.
Albert has lived a good long life and he has touched so many lives on his journey. He was always ready to help with a hammer or a saw and many of us are familiar with that little red toolbox that was always in the trunk of his car.
Albert worked for the Central Provincial Government Garage (later Fleet Services) for 37 years, retiring in 1987. He was a long-time member and volunteer of the Scandinavian Centre and Danish Club in Winnipeg. He was an avid hunter and member of the St James Assiniboine Wildlife Association. He and his wife Ruth were involved with Scouts Canada and Albert as a Scout Leader for 40th Scout Pack.
His only surviving sibling left to mourn is Arnold Nelson. He is also survived by 3 sisters in law, 2 brothers in law and many nieces and nephews.
He is lovingly remembered and survived by his sons Garry (Rita) of St Malo MB and Rod (Marilyn) of Pilot Mound MB. He leaves behind 4 grandsons, 3 granddaughters and their spouses along with 17 great grandchildren and step-grandchildren. Albert has been predeceased by five brothers Joe, Emil, Roy, Norman and Murray and one sister Jean Georgeson.
