Obituary of Alan Wayne Kakretz
Alan W. Kakretz age 77 of Elmira, NY passed away on October 11, 2021. He was born March 30, 1944 in Troy, PA the son of the late Chester and Pearl Chapman Kakretz. Alan served his country from 1962 -1967 with The U.S. Air Force and then enlisted in The U.S. Army and became an Airborne Ranger. Alan married his wife, Linda L. Brown Kakretz, in 1983. He was a retired electrical technician for CAF/USA in Elmira Heights, NY. In addition to his parents, he was pre-deceased by 2 sisters and 2 brothers. Alan was a devoted husband and father and he loved people . He was a man who enjoyed his work and his life. Alan was most passionate about his faith and unafraid to share the love of God for people around him. He enjoyed ministering to people in hospitals, church, and homes. Al often said he did not know how people could “do life” without God. Even in death he touched people with the love of God. Alan is survived by his loving and devoted wife Linda L. Kakretz ; daughter and son-in-law: Laura and Ansel Grover of Elmira, NY; son and daughter-in-law: Christopher and Candance Bauer of Elmira, NY ; 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; two brothers and several sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, nieces , nephews , cousins, and a host of caring friends. Gravesite Services with Full Military Honors will be held on Thursday October 21, 2021 at Woodlawn National Cemetery 1825 Davis Street Elmira , NY at 11 AM. Arrangements are entrusted to the LYNCH FUNERAL HOME 318 WEST BROAD STREET HORSEHEADS,NY. Words of Condolence and Memories may be shared at www.lynchsfuneralhome.com .
