Peacefully, on June 27, 2021.
Born Agnes Anna Schmid on February 4, 1932 in Switzerland, in Hochdorf in the canton of Lucerne, the child of Marie and Kaspar Schmid-Truttmann. At the time of Anna’s birth, she had five siblings: Kaspar, Otto, Maria, Lina and Hermann. After Anna, Josef, Lisbeth and Paula were born. Both Marie and Kaspar died suddenly in the summer of 1947 and the older Schmid siblings cared for the younger siblings until adulthood. In 1949, she fell in love with Angelo Da Mutten, an immigrant from Italy who was working as a tailor in her village of Hochdorf. Angelo and Anna emigrated to Canada after their marriage, becoming citizens in 1964. They resided in Montreal, and later in North Lancaster with winters in Florida, until Angelo’s death in 2013. Anna resided in Cornwall at Riverdale Terrace until shortly before her death. Funeral arrangements under the care and direction of the Munro & Morris Funeral Homes Ltd., 114 Main St. South, Alexandria (613-525-2772). A graveside service to be held in the St Margaret of Scotland cemetery on Thursday July 15, 2021 at 2 pm. Masks and physical distancing are required at all gatherings. As expressions of sympathy, Memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Cornwall and District, Canadian Wildlife Federation, Carefor Cornwall Hospice , Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario, SDG OSPCA or the Canadian Red Cross. As a Memorial to Anna, a tree will be planted in a memory woods. A tree grows – memories live.
