Obituary of Adele Mary Hashem
Age 96, of Windsor, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 10, 2021 in Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born in Sydney on April 3, 1925 she was a daughter of the late Joseph Hashem and Mary (Yapur) Hashem. Adele was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Adele retired in 1985 from the Federal Government where she worked in the Audit Department. After retirement she moved from Dartmouth to Windsor so she could enjoy retirement with family.
Adele is survived by niece, Lorraine MacNeil, Sydney; nephews, Peter Hashem, Windsor and Freddy Hashem, Huntsville, Ont.; as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Bessie Hashem, Pearl Hashem, Helen Halbouty, Martha Cleyle and Sarah Corriveau; brothers, George and Peter Hashem.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff at MacLeod House, Dr. Amanda MacDonald and her friend, Jackie Hood, who provided Adele with all of the care and support she needed over the last several years.
Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., Windsor (902-798-8317). Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a public graveside service will take place Friday, April 16 at 1p.m., in St. John the Evangelist Parish Cemetery, Wiley Ave., Windsor, Father John MacPherson officiating. COVID-19 physical distancing guidelines must be respected and masks are required. If necessary, please bring your own chair and umbrella. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Adele may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia (www.heartandstroke.ca, 902-423-7530).
