Obituary
Anna Margaret Purdy, age 84, died peacefully at home in Lorneville New Brunswick December 11th, 2021 surrounded by family and loved ones. She is survived by her three children Janice Purdy, Nancy Purdy (Chris Butler) and Mark Purdy (Karyn), Sister Barbara Geldart, grandchildren Sarah MacDougall (Mike), Adam Bernier, Joshua Purdy, Amy Purdy, great granddaughter Maggie MacDougall, special chosen granddaughter Pam MacInnis. She will be missed by her Sister-in-laws, Brother-in-laws, and many Nieces and Nephews. Originally from Elgin NB, daughter of Paul and Annie Marguerite Graves, she was predeceased by brother Dean Graves, sister Shirley Stiles, and grandchild Joshua Bernier. Margaret graduated as valedictorian from the Saint John General Hospital School of Nursing in 1958 followed by a 42yr career in Nursing. She worked at Saint John General Hospital and the Loch Lomond Villa. She taught for a brief period at New Brunswick Community College, Saint John Campus. In her retirement she was a small business entrepreneur and founder of Nature’s Way soap company. She was an honorary lifetime member of the Sea Belles Choir where she competed in many international competitions. She was involved in the Saint John Rug Hooking community and was an avid book club member. We would like to thank the employees of the oncology program at the Saint John Regional Hospital for their support. Special thanks to Dr. Samantha Gray and Dr. William Corless. Thank you to Marjory from Extra-Mural, and to dear loving friends Jennifer McNulty, Brenda Goodman, and June Blanchard Craft without whom Margaret’s final wish could not have been met.
Resting at Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road, Saint John (646-2424) with visitation on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. The memorial service will be held on Friday, December 17th at 1:00, from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel. Due to the regulations placed on indoor gatherings, anyone attending the visitation or memorial service must provide proof of vaccination, along with government issued identification, and masks are required. In lieu of flowers, remembrances to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated.
