Obituary
A beautiful life. Laura passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2021 surrounded by love and peace. She is predeceased by her parents and parents-in-law, sister, and sisters and brothers-in-law.
Leaving to love forever her husband Kevin, daughters Lorie Ann (Mike), Karen (Steve) and her grandchildren, Robbie and Henry (whom she stated with a smile on her face will give her immortality), her family and many nieces and nephews, who each held a special place in her heart.
A grandmother’s love is one like no other. To Robbie, she was grandmom and Henry she was his Gubby. She loved them with her whole heart as they did her, and she shared many great adventures with them both. A love of war history and movies with Robbie, and many hours of play and story time with Henry, who she said was all the medicine she needed. Her stories will live on in the book she wrote for Henry and the many memories Robbie holds in his heart.
Mom found a new love of the outdoors in recent years, enjoying snowshoeing and daily nature walks, where she always looked for nature’s diamonds.
She has said, “I am 72, I’ve had a pretty good life, no regrets and there is always heaven.” Her message to all of us is to live each day and have no regrets, for the future is not guaranteed for any of us.
Resting at Dunphy’s Funeral Home, Holyrood. Public visitation in keeping with COVID 19 regulations will take place on Wednesday, April 7th from 2:00 – 4:00 pm and 7:00 – 9:00 pm. The funeral service will be by invitation only due to Covid-19 Restrictions. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Assumption Catholic Church, Avondale at a time to be announced. For those unable to attend, the funeral mass will be livestreamed with the link available below.
Mom embraced going to heaven in the same way she embraced her life – with an open heart and positive attitude. In the words of Leonard Cohen, one of her favourite artists:
If it be your will, that I speak no more
And my voice be still, as it was before
I will speak no more, I shall abide until
I am spoken for, if it be your will
