Carolyn Anne (Rea) Martin
Carly passed away peacefully at Headwaters Palliative Wing in Orangeville at dawn on Friday, April 23, 2021, one month short of her 80th year. Beloved wife of Hank Martin; cherished mother of Anne Martin and Hal Martin; loving sister to Dianne St Louis; loving mother-in-law to Tim Ayiotis and Jenifer Martin and grandmother to Sam Ayiotis. Predeceased by her brother David Rea (2018).
Carly was passionate about nature, wildlife, gardening and lover of dogs. A dedicated fox and foot-pack hunter for over 40 years, the last 10 with her pack of basset hounds – The ‘Tintern Hare Hounds’. Georgian Bay was her place of peace and contentment for 60 years. She & Hank travelled extensively in Europe, and to many more remote parts of the world.
Many thanks to the dedicated staff at Headwaters Palliative Wing for their excellent care over the 5 days before she passed on. Also thanks to the excellent staff of nurses and doctors at Mt. Sinai Oncology for her care and treatment over the last 18 months.
A Private Funeral Service will be held at Dods & McNair Funeral Home, in Orangeville, on Friday, April 30, 2021. Webcast of funeral will be available on this site under webcasting.
Memorial donations in memory of Carly may be made to UHN/Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.
A tree will be planted in memory of Carly in the Dods & McNair Memorial Forest at the Island Lake Conservation Area, Orangeville. The next annual dedication service will be held on Sunday, September 12, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be offered to the family at www.dodsandmcnair.com
