Diane Mary Goddard, December 25, 1939 – April 21, 2021
It is with great sadness that we announce that Diane Goddard (nee McInenly) passed away on April 21, 2021 after a prolonged illness. She died peacefully in her home, with her children by her side. Diane is survived by her children Lisa, Mark, and Paul (Claudia), her grandchildren Kito, Pablo and Sophia, her faithful feline friend, Maisy, and many friends and extended family members, including her first husband John Comeau. She is predeceased by her second husband George Arther (Jack) Goddard, and her parents Pauline McInenly (nee Robillard) and Maurice McInenly.
Above all else, Diane loved her family and friends, and her many dogs and cats. Throughout her life, she strove to take care of others as a daughter, mother, wife and friend, and in her work as a nurse’s aid in various Ottawa hospitals. In her later years, Diane moved to her beloved little house in Constance Bay where she became an active member of St. Gabriel’s parish, and volunteered with students at St. Michael’s school in Fitzroy Harbour. Diane had a flair for fashion and decorating, and enjoyed keeping her house “just so”, and getting “dolled up” for special occasions. An extremely talented pianist, Diane learned to play as a girl at the Rideau Street Convent, continued to play at countless church weddings and funerals, and passed on her love of music to her children and grandchildren. We are all richer for her presence in our lives. We will miss her and love her forever.
We are grateful to her medical team, Dr. T. Ng and Dr. P. Hacker, and to the dedicated staff at Redwoods Retirement Residence in Ottawa. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, visitations by invitation and a private family funeral will be held. Those wishing to make a donation in Diane’s memory are invited to consider causes dear to her such as Ottawa based homeless shelters, Ottawa Food Bank, Ottawa Humane Society.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Diane Mary Goddard McInenly Wednesday April 21st 2021..
