At Parkwood Hospital Veterans Care on Tuesday, April 20, 2021 John Michael Hanas in his 96th year. Loving husband of 66 years of Marie Antoinette “Toni” (nee Bernard) Hanas. Cherished father of Michael (Tinny) Hanas, Paul Hanas, Catherine (Bill) Currie, Julie (Rob) Huntley and Colleen (Michael) Hardy. Adored grandfather of Paul (Larissa), Laura, Jaclyn (Andrew), Grace and Elaine (Jeff), John (Katie), Ben (Sarah), Madeleine, Joe, Sam and Owen. and great grandfather of John, Adam, Lisa, Julie, Alice, Mia and one on the way. Dear brother of Theresa Naddy of PEI, late Anastasia Greig of Toronto and late Jenny Hatfield of Nova Scotia. John was a quiet gentle soul, he loved his family and spending time at the cottage in Goderich. John immigrated to Canada from Poland with his family arriving aboard M.S. Batory at Pier 21 in Halifax on April 10, 1937. The family settled in MacLellan’s Brook, Nova Scotia. John lived in London where he and Toni raised their family. The family would like to thank Dr. Jamie Wickett for her knowledge and extra care of John, and the nurses and staff of Veterans Care and Palliative Care at Parkwood Hospital for the kindness shown to John and his family. A private Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 23rd at 11 o’clock. Those wishing to join the family via live stream may do so by CLICKING HERE. Interment in St. Peter’s Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph’s Hospitality Centre (Soup Kitchen) or Veterans Care at Parkwood Hospital c/o St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation would be appreciated
