Margaret Alice Joan Peggy Appleby 19222021

Margaret Alice Joan “Peggy” Appleby
1922-2021
Margaret Alice Joan “Peggy” Appleby, of Moncton, NB
passed away peacefully in hospital in Truro, NS on Monday, April 19,
2021 at age 98. She was the daughter of Henry Roy and Bertha Geraldine
(Tessier) Smith, of Lower Coverdale, NB.
Survived by her brother, George Smith of Moncton, her
children; daughter Candace and two sons Peter and Brian. She has many
cousins, nieces, and nephews, five grandchildren, and four
great-grandchildren.
Predeceased by her husband, Robert Parker “Bob”
Appleby, of Moncton, her mother and father, and four of her five
siblings; Douglas, Charlie, Jim, and Blaikie.
Peggy was a member of Mount Royal United Church – previously
Wesley Memorial, where she was a very active “Lifetime
Member” of the United Church Women, meeting each month with her
friends through to her later years living at Royal
Court.
Peggy worked with the Canadian National Railway for nine
years, and retired after her marriage. She was a devoted mother, a
proud wife, a wonderful cook, and a welcoming hostess. She encouraged
others to “speak fitly, or be silent wisely”, and she
reminded us “if you can’t say anything nice,
don’t say anything at all.”
The funeral service will be held at a later date. Interment
will be in Wilmot Memorial Cemetery. Donations in Peggy’s memory made
to the Mount Royal United Church in Moncton
