Obituary of Kathleen Van Rooyen
It is with great sadness that the family of Kathleen “Kit” Van Rooyen of Hampton, NB, announces her death which occurred on April 19, 2021 at the Saint John Regional Hospital, Saint John, NB. Born in Coachman’s Cove, NL, on May 7, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Molly (Philpott) Traverse.
Kit is survived by her loving husband Jack Van Rooyen of Hampton, NB; her children: Eric Van Rooyen of Hampton, NB, and his children Ava & Wesley; DJ Van Rooyen of Saint John, NB; Henry Rennick (Sara) of Hampton, NB, and their children, Connor, Carly, & Sadie; and Vallerie Veinot of Salt Springs, NB and her son, Chris. She will also be missed by her brothers: Art (Ophelia) Traverse, Garry (Donna) Traverse, Jim Traverse, John (Adelaine) Traverse, Paul Traverse, Edward Traverse and Bill (Jesse) Traverse; her sisters: Anna-Mae Hoven and Irene Pumphrey; as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Kit was predeceased by her sister Jacinta Rideout.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Reid’s Funeral Home (506-832-5541), 1063 Main Street, Hampton, NB. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 23, 2021 from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 6:00 to 8:00pm. A private Celebration of Kit’s Life will be held, with interment taking place in Newfoundland at a later date.
Donations in memory of Kit may be made to the IWK Foundation, Salvation Army, or to the charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through ReidsFH.com
