Obituary of Beatrice Eleanor Larder
Beatrice Eleanor Larder, 92 of New Ross, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2021 in her home, surrounded by her family. Born April 12, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Bernard and Elizabeth (McDow) Hughes.
Bea was known for her hospitality, her exceptional culinary skills and her flair for detail. Also, the cookie jar was never empty.
Bea worked tirelessly to give back to her community, by creating the Home Care program which later became the model for the province. She also helped establish the Golden Age Club in New Ross where she spent many hours cooking meals to serve to her senior community.
During her retirement, Bea served for three terms as a Counselor for District #6, her home community of New Ross.
Bea was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and great aunt. She will be truly missed by her family and her community.
Bea is survived by her daughters Janet (Michael) Keddy, Beth (Gordon) Billington, Diane (Ashton) Webber, Susan (Carol) Millett and Laurel (David) Cleveland; grandchildren Errol (Amanda) Webber, Lucas (Candace Gates) Webber, Andalyn (Adam Roy) Billington, Jacob Walker, William Walker; great-grandchildren James and Jackie Keddy, and Noah and Ivy Webber.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by great-granddaughter Ruby Webber.
The Memorial for Bea has already taken place and her ashes will be placed, by her beloved husband James “Jim” Larder, at a later date with immediate family in attendance. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements have been entrusted to Serenity Funeral Home New Ross Funeral Chapel, 4935 Hwy #12, New Ross, B0J 2M0 (902-689-2961).
