Lawrence is survived by his wife and partner of 43 years, Sheilla Stengler and their cat Honey; seven children, Troy (Tania), Tanya (Stephen), Jordan, Karen (Brad), Kerry (Guillaume), Kristen (Gord), and Kendra (Jaime). His seven children gave him 14 precious grandchildren to remember him, Jocelyn, Logan (Gino), Avery (Luz), Jaylen (Payton), Marshall, Tanner (Nicole), Kiana, Cassidy, Miranda, Maverick, Myan, Adam, Edyn, and Ellys. Lawrence is also survived by his siblings Richard (Olga), Sylvia (Tom) Englot, Rita (Morely) Munn, Cecile (Dan) Bourassa, Pete (June), Lucy (Gary) Robbins; Brothers and sisters-in-Law Alyce Gagne, Barbara Vermette, Arnold Villeneuve, Beverly Landry, Brian Villeneuve and Mickey Villeneuve; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and treasured friends.
Lawrence was born in Kincaid, Sk, started high school in Swift Current, returned to the farm to spend the remainder in the Wood River School Unit, and finally moved to Regina and became an amazing plumber. He had Allan Plumbing and Heating for over 40 years. Lawrence had many of the same traits and hobbies as his father, like fishing, fixing things for others, and his work ethic. Many will say he was the hardest working man they ever met. Lawrence seldom took a sick day, and always worked many hours in a day. He met Sheilla in June of 1979 and he did not even bat an eye when she told him she had 4 daughters. From that point on, Lawrence went from a father of 2 children to 6. He loved Sheilla very much, and together they made a beautiful life. In 1981 they purchased property at Island View, all the kids enjoyed having a place to go where Dad would relax a bit. Not for long though, because he always found something that needed fixing or something new to build. In 1990 a young boy named Jordan came into our lives. Again, without any doubt Lawrence and Sheilla added him to their large family. In 1993 Lawrence and Sheilla adopted Jordan and legally he became theirs. In 1995 Lawrence married Sheilla at the lake with all 7 of their children. He loved all his children and made sure they were always safe and cared for. Not one of them went without what they needed in life. In 2011 Lawrence had decided it might be time to retire and spend more time at the new home they built at the Lake. It took about another 5 years for him to give up his licences and a couple more to convince mom to move to the lake full time. For the past 5 years Lawrence spent the winters ice fishing and sledding either alone or with whomever would join him. In the summers they had the pool open for all to use and a wiener roast or BBQ anytime. This winter ice fishing was a bit easier when he got his newest toy, the Mule.
We all thought Lawrence would live forever and it was a terrible shock to get the calls on Thursday morning. He was a quiet man who sat back and watched and listened to everything. He rarely raised his voice, and was always willing to lend a helping hand to all. Lawrence could fix anything or at least he had us all convinced he could. He taught us all how to be self-sufficient, hardworking, loving and fun people.
A private Funeral Service will take place at 10:00 am Wednesday, April 14, 2021. A link for the livestream of the service will be found above his obituary on the day of the service.
