IN LOVING MEMORY OF
BRUNO DÉSILETS
July 14, 1946 – April 8, 2021
It is with great sadness, we announce that Bruno Désilets passed away peacefully on April 8, 2021 at the Bowmanville Hospital.
He was born on July 14, 1946 in Smooth Rock Falls, Ontario.
He was predeceased by his parents, Maurice and Alice Désilets, brothers Remi (Cindy) and Raymond (Diane) and in-laws Jim and Jacqueline Clark. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Margaret, his sons Michael (Nella) and grandchildren Lauren, Ethan, Paige, Sienna and son Mark (Karen) and grandchildren Finn and Isla. He is survived by his brothers Ivan (Janet), Donald (Beatrice), Denis, and sisters Diane (Norman), and Jo-Anne (Johanne) and numerous nephews and nieces.
He graduated from Lakehead University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science. Bruno started his career in North Bay in forestry and moved to work in Caramat, Manitouwadge, Marathon, and Kapuskasing in Human Resources management. In these communities, he instantly became involved in the Lions club, curling club, golf club, Scouts Canada as well as his son’s sports teams. Bruno made friends and had the courage and energy to make a difference in every community he lived in. He was a very generous, caring person who loved his family dearly. He lived life to the fullest and ensured everyone around him did as well. If Bruno was making breakfast at 7 am on a Saturday morning, everyone else had to experience the joy of breakfast with Bruno. He enjoyed the serenity of the outdoors, taking his sons fishing and camping; he always had his “secret” fishing spots that he would share with others. Bruno was very passionate about whatever he took on, from wine making, Lions club polar bear swims, and TV bingos; he participated in lumberjack games, made the best moose callers and moose costumes at the Brier and was always a welcoming host. Bruno was always family first, ensuring the entire family and friends would frequently get together for reunions and the Black Fly golf tournament. He started the Black Fly Golf tournament to bring together friends and family throughout Northern Ontario for over 20 years. He also enjoyed vacationing at camp; especially Charlie’s Little Acre north of Dryden. In 1994 Bruno and Marg moved to Southern Ontario living in London, Ajax, and eventually retiring in Newcastle’s Wilmot Creek community in 2010. Bruno made many new friends and was involved on the executive of the woodworking club, gardening club, pool league, and was the DJ for the Saturday night 60’s dance club as well as being the community computer repair man. Bruno was all about bringing friends together and enjoying all that life gives us.
Bruno was very proud of his sons and grandkids’ accomplishments always being there to support and provide encouragement. His jokes, energy, enthusiasm and love will be missed.
Rest in Peace – Husband, Dad, Grandpa, mon Frère, Friend.
A special thank you to the nurses and doctors on the 2nd floor of the Bowmanville Hospital.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a future date.
If family and friends so desire, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a Charity of choice.
