Obituary of Mario Anthony Vella
Vella, Mario
After a long journey of 25 years with ALS on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 Mario Vella in his 50th year. Proud and loving father of Kennedie. Beloved son of Fred and Sandra Vella. Brother of Joe (Susan) Vella. Loving uncle of Ashleigh (Rob) Wood and their kids Parker and Quinn Wood and Mackenzie Vella. Mario will be fondly remembered by his many uncles, aunts, cousins and extended family. Mario’s determination and courage allowed him to fight ALS for 25 years. He was an inspiration to many. Mario organized and ran his own golf tournament, Mario Vella’s Victory Against ALS, for 21 years until Covid cancelled it in 2020 as well as his dinner/dance at the Maltese Hall and Marconi Club. Mario was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan, an avid concert goer and regular at London Knights games. Mario was loved and will be missed by many.
A private Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 9th at 10 o’clock at St. Peter’s Basilica. Those wishing to join the family may do so virtually at www.donohuefuneralhome.ca
Due to Covid-19 restrictions the family has asked those to save their empties or make a donation for Mario’s bottle drive on May 29th at Forest City Community Church, 3725 Bostwick Road from 10-3 or to gofundme.com/f/mario-vellas-victory-against-als . This will also allow Mario’s friends an opportunity to visit and pay condolences to his family in a safe and open environment. (John T. Donohue Funeral Home)
