Elizabeth Theresa Curtis MacDonald 2021

Elizabeth “Theresa” MacDonald
Aspy Bay
The death of Elizabeth “Theresa” MacDonald occurred on the evening of Friday, December 25, 2020 at home in Aspy Bay in her 92nd year. She was born to Jim and Helen (Dunphy) Curtis June 15, 1929, in St. Margaret’s Village.
After the war, Theresa married John D. MacDonald (d. 1994). She will be remembered by her five children, Colleen (Lowell Murray), David, Gerard, Lisa, and Ian (Jennifer MacEachern), one brother, John “Buddy” (late Muriel), and four grandchildren – John MacDonald (Amy McCall), William and Colin Murray and John Duncan MacDonald. She is also survived by brothers-in-law Bruce McNenly and Michael MacNeil. She was predeceased by brother Joseph (late Margaret), sisters Mary MacDonald (late Dan R), Rose Burton (late Everett), Monica McNenly, and Charlotte MacNeil.
Theresa was a quietly efficient woman who recognized need and responded to it. Over the years she organized and managed clinics for handicapped children and helped bring dental care to north of Smokey. She also contributed to ensuring our veterans were remembered.
She had a close bond with her MacDonald in-laws, cherished her nieces, nephews and close friends she kept over the years. Things in life that brought her great joy were her family and home in Aspy Bay, visits, many great games of cards and her love of music. Her kindness and welcoming nature was known to many. You didn’t leave without a meal, cup of tea or a care package to take home with you.
Funeral arrangements are in the care of the Jobes Funeral Home. Cremation, at her request, has taken place. A private service will take place Thursday, January 7, 2021, at 11 a.m. in the Aspy Bay United Church, followed by a graveside committal at 11:30 a.m. for those who would like to attend. COVID-19 protocols in place. In lieu of flowers, donations greatly appreciated for the Easter Seals campaign or a veterans’ charity of your choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to her family at www.jmjobesfuneralhome.com
She did her part!
