SCHOUTEN, Ben
April 26, 1945 – March 20, 2021
With great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Ben at the age of 75, with his loving family by his side. Son of the late Albert and Gerda Schouten. Survived by the love of his life of 53 years Josie (Wynen). Loving Dad to Ron (Cher), Stu (Beckie), Vicki (Eric), Al (Kristin). Grampa to Ryan and Sydney, Bella and Spencer, Lexie and Tyler. Brother to the late Chris (Dine), Joe (Joke), Gert (Ted), Edie (Fred), survived by his sisters Willy (Pete), Anna (Theo). Ben will be sadly missed by his brothers and sisters in law of the Wynen family and many nieces and nephews. Ben Immigrated from Holland in 1950 and moved to Ontario where he married the love of his life and raised a family of 4. He was a Jack of all trades and master of many. His creations were often, and his inventions were well planned. Ben established a business in 1977 which is still thriving today, Schouten Sod. This was his dream and passion and is still proudly being run by his sons Stu and Al. Ben was a hardass husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, inventor, mentor, teacher, and icon. He gave everything and everyone his 100%, always. Ben will be sadly missed and his legacy will live on forever. Visitation will take place in the Miller Funeral Chapel, Caledonia, on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 from 2 – 4p.m. and 7 – 9p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for family only, in St. Patrick’s R.C. Church, Caledonia, followed by interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Patrick’s Church or the Caledonia Food Bank would be appreciated by the family.
We love you Dad
