Death Notice
Cluett, Janet Eleanor (nee Zinck)
Born October 12, 1932, in Bridgewater, Nova Scotia. Died peacefully March 16, 2021, in London, Ontario in her 89th year, at her home for the last four years, Manor Village.
Predeceased by her childhood sweetheart and loving husband, Alfred Cluett (1994).
Will be dearly missed by her children – Susan Howieson (Iain), Will (Janet), Jamie (Susan), David (Angela); grandchildren – James Iain (Karen), Colin (Kyle), Graeme (Lee), Caileigh Howieson; Shannon (Dave), Taylor (Elsa), Owen (Callie) Cluett; Jonathan (Kyle), Cameron (Janelle) Cluett; great grandchildren – Tristan, Lidia, and Kelsey Howieson; Carson Cluett; and her beloved sister, Nancy Court.
Janet grew up in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia and attended the Lunenburg Academy before earning her nursing degree at the University of Toronto, class of 1955, followed by a position with the VON. She married Alfred in 1956 and they moved to London for Alfred’s dental practice and to begin their new life.
Janet’s family was her pride and joy. She shared her love broadly, filled with wisdom, compassion, and generosity. She enjoyed a special bond with her grandchildren, through their mutual love of sports, performing arts, and their shared faith. Loved by all, Janet touched the soul of everyone she met. She listened, really listened, and took great interest in others and their lives. Janet was a long-time faithful member of St. George’s Anglican Church. She spent many years volunteering for the Daily Bread Food Bank at St. Paul’s Cathedral in London. She had great empathy for those marginalized in society.
We are tremendously grateful for the PSWs, nurses, and all the staff of Manor Village, who took such good care of Janet these last four years. She loved her ‘MV family’.
Due to pandemic restrictions, a private family funeral will be held at St. George’s Anglican Church, and Janet’s ashes interred with Alfred’s at Woodland Cemetery. A Celebration of Life for Janet will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions to St. George’s Anglican Church, St. Paul’s Social Services, or The Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund will be gratefully accepted.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Janet Cluett 2021..
