Obituary for Leslie Riley
Leslie ‘Shobbs’ ‘Mino Niigaan Naabi Ninii’ Riley, a member of Walpole Island First Nation, passed peacefully to the other side on Friday, March 12, 2021 at the age of 75. Shobbs was the son of the late Russel & Mary Lou (Thomas) Riley. Beloved husband to Beverly Williams. Loving father of Jason and Charmaine, Russel and Keely, Ryan and Lacey and the late Pamela Kiyoshk (Carson). Cherished grandfather of Jayden, Ty, Jalyssa, Jesse, Jared, Kaylen, Ella, Chelsea, Rylee and the late Nancy and Jacota and great grandfather to Antone and Elise. Brother of Barbara M. Riley, Anna Riley, Lyle ‘Nick’ Riley (Barbara A.), Elaine Migwans (late Alec), Lawrence ‘Onion’ Riley (Karen) and the late Jeanette, Leroy, Eunice, Melville, Joey and Jimmy. Shobbs had worked for the Michigan Department of Transportation road construction for over 35 years. He was a well-known golfer across Turtle Island, a hunter, trapper and woodsman – always enjoying the outdoors but his real passions was being a loving Dad and Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his many nieces and nephews and friends. Visiting will be held at the Walpole Island Sports Complex on Sunday March 14, 2021 from 2 – 5 p.m. and on Monday from 8:00 am – 10:00 am. Masks and social distancing are mandatory. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private family funeral and interment in Highbanks Cemetery will follow. Online tributes may be left at www.CavanaghFuneralHome.ca
