Stuart R. Beck
1937-2021
Stuart R. Beck – 83 (August 15, 1937 – March 5, 2021). It is
with broken hearts that we announce the passing of Stuart Raymond
Beck, husband, father, and grandfather. Stuart died peacefully at home
surrounded by family. Born in White Sands, PEI, the son of
John and Mae Beck. Stuart left White Sands at the age of 19 to pursue
a career in Toronto. Up to that point he had not even been as far as
Summerside. He began a 40-plus year career at Simpsons/The Bay where
he stayed in Toronto for four years before moving to Halifax with
them. In Halifax he soon met a young nurse who would turn into the
love of his life, Carol Ells. Together they would share a life
together of 57 years. Stuart and Carol loved to camp every year at
Marco Polo Land for 15 years until buying their dream cottage at
Medford Beach where they would spend many relaxing days with much
laughter with friends and family. He enjoyed golfing, curling,
watching his grandson play hockey and football, going to his
granddaughter’s dance competitions, and other sports. He
particularly enjoyed fishing for flounder with friends on the water by
his cottage. All who knew him came to know his smile, his sense of
humour and his love of life. Stuart was a vivid storyteller sprinkled
with humour and sometimes a song. Stuart is survived by his wife,
Carol (Ells); two daughters, Elizabeth (Stephen), and Jacqueline. His
pride and joy were his three grandchildren, Jillian, John, and
Isabella. He is also survived by his sister, Sarah Jackson, Beach
Point, PEI. Predeceased by parents, John and Mae Beck; brothers,
Lewis, Jack and Danny. Cremation has taken place. Due to
Covid restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later
date. A burial ceremony will be held in Murray Harbour, PEI,
by invitation only, also at a later date. In lieu of flowers,
donations would be greatly appreciated to the Canadian Cancer Society
or MS Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family
Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Kentville.
