LYMER Alan Saunders February 26 2021

It is with heavy hearts, our family announces the peaceful passing of our beloved husband, father,
grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, brother in law and Uncle, Alan Saunders Lymer. Al is lovingly
remembered and will be missed by his wife of 62 years, Kathy; children: Donna (Don) Waterman, Neil
(Sandra) Lymer, and Susan (Alistair) Goodfellow. His seven grandchildren: Keith (Alicia), Quin (Shannon),
Alan, Kayley, Marcus, Kathleen (Brandon), Alistair Jr. and three great grandchildren: Kieran, Rory and
Patrick. As well as nieces, nephews and brother (Jack). Al will be missed every day until eternity.
Al gained the love and respect of his family and community living an abundant life with integrity, an
amazing sense of fun and his strong faith. Al placed the love and dedication to his family first, always and
forever, Kathy and his children were his top priority in life. Al’s true legacy lives on in the positive impact
he had in the lives of his family and community where he lived and worked. Al was always at his best
when sharing his gifts of time, whether this be in the Pleasantview Community, Church, Wabamun Lake,
his Hockey communities, his winter Mesa Community and or with his family. Throughout his lifetime, Al
was an accomplished businessman and a senior executive in the Oil Industry, retiring from BP/Amoco Oil
in 1982.
Al truly loved the game of Hockey and all the kids who played, whether it was street hockey or ice
hockey. Al was a successful minor and Junior Ice hockey coach with his teams in Minor Hockey Week,
City Championships and Provincial Hockey Championships. He also enjoyed time instructing coaching
clinics. In 2011, Al was awarded the Chair of the Board Award from Hockey Canada, the culmination of
an amazing career where his love and dedication to the game was recognized.
Due to the current COVID restrictions, our family is in the process of making plans this summer for a
“Celebration of Life” to celebrate the legacy of such a great man so we can all give big Al a farewell
deserving of a man who was larger than life.
And Dad, we all “Thank you for the dish of love and the cup of understanding”.
