Robert Douglas Weber passed away peacefully on Feb. 22, 2021 in his 88th year at the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital. Doug was predeceased by his wife Margaret Weber (Cochrane) in 2018. He is survived by his children Michael Weber, Christine Hewitt (James), Stephen Weber (Rhonda) and Robert Weber (Kristin). He was the beloved grandfather of Lauren, Elise, Melanie, Amanda, Brianna, Alexandra and Mitchell.
Doug lived a life full of riches and was the author of his own story. He was born in Paris, ON in February 1933 and it was in high school where he met his future wife of 60 years, Margaret. Both attended Western University where Doug graduated with a degree in Geology and an MBA. They settled in Lorne Park with their 4 children. Doug and Marg eventually moved to the Summerhill area in Toronto from 1985-1994. Doug worked in the investment business for 35 years as both a respected Oil Analyst and Broker at firms which included Wisner and Partners, Nesbitt Thompson, Imperial Oil, Suncor, Midland Walwyn, Burns Fry, and finally retired at age 62 from 3 Macs.
Doug and his family were very active, playing tennis at ORC, golfing and skiing on weekends in Collingwood where they had built a chalet. Doug and Marg retired to the chalet in 1994 where they enjoyed a very active lifestyle cross-country skiing, playing tennis, alpine skiing, playing bridge and golfing at the Blue Mountain Golf Club. Doug was also a volunteer providing transportation to medical appointments for those requiring assistance.
Doug was a true gentleman in every sense of the word. His kind soul, loving presence and wonderful sense of humour will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.
Due to Covid restrictions, a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers the family asks that you make a donation to the Collingwood General and Marine Hospital. The family would also like to thank Dr. Wells for his many years caring for Doug.
