Paul Joseph Gove

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Paul Joseph Gove, 72, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, on Saturday, February 20, 2021, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, with his family by his side.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late William and Anna (Wilson) Gove.
Paul spent most of his working life with building supplies, beginning with Chappell’s and retiring from Central Building Supplies in Sydney in 2009, due to illness.
Paul had contracted a serious lung disease and would need a lung transplant, which he received in 2012. This certainly didn’t slow him down, as he continued to fish, hunt and to find his greatest obsession, playing golf. Paul was a member of Seaview Golf Club and enjoyed playing courses all over the island with his sons and devoted golf buddies.
Paul is survived by his wife Veronica (Brown) Gove, his two sons, Jamie (Laurie) Gove, Glace Bay, Billy (Jaime) Gove, Point Edward, by his two grandchildren Amanda and Trenton; his sisters Joan (Alf) Buffett, Georges River, Ann (Earl) MacKinnon, North Sydney, Norma (Bill) Stickley, Toronto, his brothers, John (Linda) Ingram, North Sydney, Harry (Diane) Healey, Sydney Mines, Eddie Andrews (Mary), Georges River, Billy (Ada) Bungay, North Sydney; sister-in-law, Vi Gove, Toronto, several nieces and nephews both home and away in Ontario
Besides his parents, Paul was predeceased by his birth parents Rory and Edna (Cann) Andrews; brothers, Bud and Gordon Gove; sister Pauline Ginter and nephew Paul Ginter.
The family would like to thank Dr. John Kirkpatrick, Dr. Alexander Wawer, the doctors and nursing staff of the Cape Breton Cancer Centre and the E.R. department at the Regional Hospital for the care given to Paul.
There will be no visitation by request. A private family service will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Cape Breton Cancer Centre.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the W.J. Dooley Funeral Home, 107 Pleasant Street, North Sydney.
