Darwin, Allen John (Al)
Peacefully at home on February 15, 2021 in his 96th year. Survived by his proud sons David (Linda) and Eric (late Frances); his grandchildren Matthew, Martin, Angela, Michelle (Calvin) and Cosmos; his two great-grandsons Alexander and Benjamin; and his sister Geraldine (John). Predeceased by Freda (McGregor) his cherished wife of 67 years and his sisters Dorothy, Joan, Marjorie, Joyce and Maureen. Only son of Norbert Joseph Darwin and Dorothy Ellen (Allen).
Born in a small house on Bronson Avenue, he had many experiences of depression era Ottawa with horse-drawn wagons, streetcars, ice sheds, and road apple hockey. Upon graduation from Ottawa Tech, he joined the war effort. Allen commenced his armed forces career with the RCAF, then on to the Canadian Army, and finally over 22 years with the Royal Canadian Navy – Air Service. This was followed by 20 years as a representative of CCH Canadian Limited. He enjoyed many friendships, especially in the Canadian Naval Air Group and with his golfing buddies.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Funeral Mass at 11:00 on Friday, February 19, 2021 to St. Elizabeth Church, 1303 Leaside Avenue, Ottawa will be livestreamed on the parish Facebook page. Interment Capital Memorial Gardens – Ottawa.
