Obituary of Bob McKinlay
We are saddened to announce the passing of Bob McKinlay of Huxley, AB on Saturday, February 13th. Bob was born September 13th, 1924. Dad lived in the Huxley area all of his 96 years. He was born in the coulees at home, where his parents owned and operated the McKinlay coal mine. Dad drove truck to deliver coal because his parents did not want him working in the mine. Dad loved truck driving and did it most of his life, the longest being for his dear friend Pedar Wik. Dad also told wonderful stories of being a bus driver for the Three Hills School Division.
What Dad really loved however was being a farmer. It was long hard work, but he looked forward to starting anew every Spring. When he no longer had the farm, he turned his talents to growing an amazing garden, the last one being planted Spring 2020!! Dad loved animals and birds and spent many days enjoying the birds from his comfy chair.
Dad married Dorothy Morse on December 1st, 1948. They were married for 57 years.
Dad is survived by 5 loving daughters and their loving families. Margret (Richard), Debbie, Roberta (Rolly), Karen (Wendell), and Mary Jean. Grandchildren Jason, Amilee, Alanna, Cheryl, Julie, Stephanie, Adrienne, Rachelle, Vanessa, Lindsey and Marina. Great grandchildren Reece, Emma, Jayce, Brieanna, Caleb, Rylan, River, Harper, Scarlett, Huxley, Leo, Bodhi, Juniper and Foster.
Dad is survived by one sister Kay (Garvin) Anderson, many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Dad has been missing Mom for almost 15 years and they will now be reunited.
We would like to acknowledge and Thank our sister Debbie from the bottom of all our hearts. She has been Dad’s constant caregiver and companion for over 6 years. The love and devotion she gave to our Dad was beautiful.
Thank you to Dr. Calhoun and Elnora Home Care who went above and beyond to ensure Dad had the best possible care we could have ever hoped for.
Dad you were so loved and you will be so missed.
