GRAVES, Phyllis Jean “P.J.” ~ Age 86, It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Phyllis Jean of Morden, Kings Co., on Saturday, February 6, 2021, in Soldiers’ Memorial Hospital, Middleton. Born in Wolfville, Kings Co., she was the daughter of the late Olga (Dodge) Bagley. Besides her parents she was predeceased by second husband, Graeme Cushing; and beloved grandson, Nigel. PJ is survived by her loving husband and best friend, Edward Graves; son, Reginald “Buddy ” (Ann); step-children, Brooke, Tami and Trenton (Shirley Jean), Melinda (the late Alan) Kirk and Troy (Leta); grandchildren, Emma (Michael), Bronwyn (Lucas), Wrenn, Piper, Garett; step grandchildren, Fiona (Chris), Trena (Justin), Dylan (Mary Jean “MJ”), Tanner, Gunner, Lacey, April, Leasa and Taylor; sisters-in-law, Fran Bitz and Velma Koch; brother-in-law, Donald (Jackie) Graves; first husband, Siegfried Mehlitz; cousins, Garth (Carol), Mona (the late Harry Rand), Bonnie, Scott, Kim, Donald, David, Randy, Neil, Nola, and Cheryl. She will always be remembered by Kjell Pauling, who had been her special exchange student and long-time friend from Germany. PJ grew up in Lower Rose Bay, Lunenburg Co. PJ moved to Morden to live with her grandmother Thurza “Jack” Dodge where she took her grade 11 and finished her education. Her first job was at Chisholm’s Pharmacy Aylesford, shortly afterwards started her career with the Bank of Nova Scotia in 1952. PJ was transferred to Canning branch in 1954 then to Oshawa and Whitby, Ontario. She later transferred to the Bridgewater branch in 1967, retiring in 1995. She was an avid sailor and was the first female Commodore of the LaHave River Yacht Club. P.J. was a member of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Bridgewater and St. Mary’s Anglican Church, Auburn. PJ loved to read, enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and was a loyal Montreal Canadiens Fan. P.J. will be greatly missed by many loving friends and family who will always remember her beautiful smile. Due to public gathering restrictions a private service will take place in the Middleton Funeral Home, 398 Main Street, toll free 1-855-825-3448, with Rev Mel Malton officiating. A live webcast of the service will be available for viewing on the funeral home website at 1:25 p.m., AST, on Friday, February 19, by selecting the “live stream” option at the top of the home page. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Anglican Cemetery, Auburn, at a later date. Donations in her memory may be made to St. Mary`s Anglican Church, Auburn or to the Morden Community Centre.
