Phyllis Carolyn Wells of London, Ontario passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at St. Joseph’s Hospice, Sarnia. Born in Pugwash, Nova Scotia on January 25, 1942 to Phyllis Muriel Harding Wells and Redvers Dundonald Wells. Mother to daughter Sarah McCann (Wayne), and sons Christopher Thorne (Julie), Aaron Thorne (Heather MacNally), and Matthew Thorne (Alison). Grandmother to Emma (Lynden Evers), Chloe and Hannah McCann; Justin and Samantha Thorne; Braden and Carter Thorne; and Brewer, Corbin and Lyla Thorne. Sister to Cynthia Spence (Matthew). Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. Predeceased by grandson Caleb Wayne McCann and siblings Redvers Dundonald Wells Jr. (Jessie), Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Rudderham (Robert) and Mary Angela Wells. Mum was proud of her East Coast roots, loved to travel, and lived life with humour, strong will, and determination. Mum had many accomplishments throughout her life. After graduating from Bishop’s University, she worked in the sciences and later in her second career with Canada Revenue Agency. Mum taught us the importance of friendship and chosen family. Thank you to her “sister by choice” Joy Smith for always being there. Thank you to Brian Carey, dear friend and theatre companion with whom she travelled often to Stratford. Thank you to the nurses, PSWs, and doctors of St. Joseph’s Hospice that cared for Mum and treated her like a queen. A private family service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to Sarnia-Lambton Rebound or the Primate’s World Relief and Development Fund (PWRDF) would be greatly appreciated.
