Dina was born February 10, 1928 in Vedelago Cavasagra Treviso Italy, and grew up on the family farm along with her parents, grandparents, a sister and four brothers. Hard work was part of her upbringing and continued long after she immigrated to Canada. One of her earliest jobs In Italy was working in the Silk factory. In her early 20’s she trained and worked at the hospital in Treviso as a Nurse’s Assistant, taking great pride at caring for the sick and elderly with her kind and nurturing character. With tough economic times, many of her family and relatives were immigrating to Canada for new opportunities and a better way of life. Her brothers moved first, and settled in both Niagara Falls and Port Colborne. In 1953, with just a suitcase and dreams for a better future, she arrived in Canada, ready to start the next chapter of her life. Initially helping her brothers with homemaking and cooking; skills that she both enjoyed and excelled at. She later went on to work several different jobs through her lifetime; the shoe factory in Port Colborne, Lanark and Bicks to name a few. She met the love of her life Elio, at a dance at the local Italian hall in Port Colborne. Elio saw this beautiful girl, with rosy cheeks in a beautiful red dress, who caught his eye. He asked her to dance and the rest is history. They never stopped dancing and was something they enjoyed throughout their life together. A year later they married on January 28, 1956 and have been in love ever since. They were blessed with 3 beautiful daughters. Dina loved her family above all. She loved to cook, bake, sew, garden, and travel. She was very talented in her sewing abilities, sewing matching outfits for her girls. She enjoyed cooking meals to bring her daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren together. She was loving, caring, kind and generous; Always putting the needs of others before hers. She was the most amazing wife, mom, sister, aunt, nonna, grandmother and will be missed by all. We are celebrating her life with great memories.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Daniel and all the staff at Northland Pointe for their care and compassion over the last four years.
