Cheryl Grosvenor (Schmitt)
July 27, 1953 – February 4, 2021
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our cherished wife, mother and grandmother, Cheryl Elizabeth Joy Grosvenor, at the age of 67, from complications related to ALS. Cheryl died peacefully at the Queensway Carleton Hospital with her devoted husband of 46 years, David, and treasured children Melissa Drew and Andrew Grosvenor by her side.
Cheryl was born in St. George, Ontario to Edward and Ina Schmitt (both deceased). She moved to Ottawa after her marriage to David in 1975 where they built a happy life together.
In her nearly 50 years as a registered nurse, she was dedicated to helping others in both hospital and family practice settings, and had recently retired from the Westend Family Care Clinic. Cheryl was a founding member of Kanata Baptist Church and worshipped there most of her life.
Cheryl delighted in spending time with her family, including son-in-law Stephen Drew and her adored grandchildren Benjamin and Cameron. She was a caring friend to many and her beautiful, giving spirit was evident to all who met her.
Cheryl is also survived by her beloved brother Stephen Schmitt (Holly), brother-in-law Ron Grosvenor (Carol), and five nephews and their families.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the ALS Clinic staff at the Ottawa Hospital, the ALS Society, Dr. G. Manzig, Dr. P. Hacker for palliative support, as well as Dr. R. Murphy and the nurses at the QCH.
Donations may be made in Cheryl’s memory to the ALS Society of Canada and/or the Queensway Carleton Hospital Foundation. A private family service will be held Thursday, February 11th at 1 pm, Streaming information to follow.
Our most sincere sympathies to the family and friends of Cheryl Elizabeth Joy Grosvenor Schmitt Thursday February 4th 2021..
