Charles Ray Winship of South Ohio, son of Charles Fiske and Mildred Jean (Killam) Winship passed away peacefully in Yarmouth Regional Hospital on February 3,2021. He was surrounded by his loving wife and their three children. He was a devoted member, trustee, deacon, Sunday school teacher and superintendent of the South Ohio United Baptist Church until its closing. He was the present president of the South Ohio Community Center, past and present president of the Yarmouth County Historical Society. He loved bringing joy and laughter to everyone whether he was Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny or a care clown at the hospital, he brought a smile to all. A carpenter by trade, he loved working with his hands in the garden or the workshop. Later employed at NSCC Burridge Campus for 27 years on the maintenance staff. Most of all he was a family man, delighting in his children and five grandsons. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Susan; daughter, Kerry (Lyle); sons, David (Rachel) and Peter (Karen); grandsons, Christian, Corbin, Blaze, Theron, Chase and brother Glen Winship, all of Yarmouth County. Family flowers only. Memorial donations may be made to the Friends of Gilles Boudreau Cancer Help Fund, Yarmouth County Historical Society or the South Ohio Community Center. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Sweeny’s Funeral Home and Crematorium , Yarmouth. A private family service will be held Sunday , February 7,2021 at 2pm and can be viewed on the Sweeny Funeral Home website live stream. Interment in the Hillside Cemetery, South Ohio at a later date.
